ManukaHoney

Manuka Honey is unique among honeys. While all honeys are known to have some antibacterial properties, Manuka Honey, which is produced primarily in New Zealand from the nectar of Leptospermum scoparium and/or Leptospermum polyglaifolium, has additional antibacterial properties.

Studies have shown it has promise as a cure for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), H.pylori infections of the stomach, acne, sinus infections, and even superbugs such as MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus).

I learned of Manuka Honey several months ago in a monthly newsletter from Kirkman's Laboratories. The president of Kirkman's wrote of how his daughter suddenly developed severe abdominal pain. All conventional tests came up negative. She started taking two tablespoons of Manuka Honey four times a day, and the abdominal pain she suffered for several months suddenly disappeared. As I've had digestive problems for four years, I thought I'd give it a try. After taking it for two weeks, it reduced my symptoms by 50%. I continue to take it, hopeful that the improvement will continue. I wish that I had known about it four years ago... perhaps my symptoms would have been eliminated in several days had I started taking Manuka Honey early. I've also put it on a cut, which healed twice as fast as an identical cut on which I did not put anything. Soon, I'm going to test it side-by-side against antibacterial cream.

There are 24 tablespoons of honey in each jar. If you intend to take 2 tablespoons before each meal and at 2 tablespoons bedtime, as reported in the article by the president of Kirkman's Labs, that's 8 tablespoons per day, so a jar would last three days.

Wedderspoon Manuka Honey from New Zealand is tested in an independent laboratory and is categorized. Only the finest of their honey is packaged with the "Active 16+" label. This honey is 100% raw, unfiltered, and has, in the recent past, been certified organic by ECOCERT, SA. Wedderspoon Manuka Honey has BPA-free packaging, is free from GMO's, pesticides, and chemicals, and the hives are made from environmentally friendly materials. Note that several of the beekeepers who supply this honey have chosen to not renew their ECOCERT, SA organic certification. So, because not all of the suppliers have renewed their organic certification, the jars can no longer be labeled "organic," but the manuka plants still are not exposed to any pesticides or chemical fertilizers and the beekeepers have not changed any of their methods, so this honey is the same quality as when it was certified organic.

Suggested retail price: $50.86 per jar.
